Import Excel file into a table that is linked to another table

27 New Member
I recieve an updated excel file with pers information every other week and when I go to import the data into my table the data is not updated for the records that are linked to a course table. I have two tables that have a many-to-one relationship and I need to keep the pers info updated. How do I unlock a pers record to update it?

I guess you have a referential constraint defined between the tables and when the courseID isn't specified in the imported data (or in a wrong format like string instead of numeric), then you can experience trouble.
I would probably add a "dummy" coursecode and make sure that non-existing coursecodes are replace with this dummy to import the pers data properly.
The Dummy course can be used afterwards toassign the pers records to the correct course.

Getting the idea ?
