Crosstab query error 3070

I would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction on how to
resolve this issue, as despite checking previous listings still not
getting anywhere.

I have 4 tables

tblApplicant_Person
App_Person_ID PK
tblInterview
Interview_ID PK
App_Person_ID FK
Site Accepted

tblCompendium
Course_ID PK
Course Name
Division

tblCourses_Applied
Course_App_ID PK
App_Person_ID FK
Course_ID FK

I want to create a crosstab query, which has column headings 'Site
Accepted' and row headings 'Division'.
I can get this to work easily. The problem is that an Applicant may
apply for one or more courses from the compendium. I only want to
count each Applicants first choice of course and so the division that
course belongs to.
I have managed to this in a select query using the following code in
the criteria of Course_app_id in the QBE grid.
Code: WHERE((([Courses_Applied].[Course_App_ID])=(SELECT
Min(A.Course_App_ID) FROM Courses_Applied AS A WHERE A.App_Person_ID =
Courses_Applied.App_Person_ID)))

However when I try to run the crosstab I get the following error:
The Microsoft Jet database engine does not recognize
'Courses_Applied.App_Person_ID' as a valid field name or expression.
(Error 3070).

Any help would be gratefully accepted.
thanks
Carl
