read only error

hi can any one help me out i m just a layman in ms-access

Whenever i am trying to open a existing dabase file it is giving i can view only in read only.
and it gives "you wont be able to save changes made to data or object definitions in database"

the file is located on the server in a shared folder and has all user rights.

when i m copying the same file and pasting it i can open it

please hele me if anyone can

thanks in advance.
One reason for this is if someone else has the same database open. Depending on the locking, someone else could have the system open and so you can read it, but can't write back.
