Splitting database slows the performance

116 100+
Good morning all.

I have been working on a database for the past couple of weeks and it is pretty nippy. I have an ODBC link in there from another software program.

Since splitting it and putting the backend in a backend folder (on the same network) may I add, it has really slowed down. When you first open the form it is quite quick but after that it slows down. Its as if there is something running in the background. Not sure if my ODBC link is slowing it down but it was definitely ok before splitting.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks

Same network but is it the same computer? Access isn't the most network friendly program, even if it is capable of it.

Hi
Yes it is on network and same computer. However it is also slow on other users pcs. If I didnt split it then I am sure it would be ok but I have to split it for the multi users. If I dont then I cant make amendments whilst they are all logged in?

Thanks

There's not much you can do about it. Like I said, Access isn't the most network friendly program. The best you can do is put only the data on a network share and put a copy of the front end on each user's computer.
