Using pop up forms to both display and add data

Hi, I'm pretty new to access and having trouble with pop up forms. I have 2 linked tables: Associates ("ID") and Training ("EE NO").
I'm trying to use a command button next to an associates name on the main form to open a pop up form for training that will display any info for that associate, as well as allow new training records to be entered. I can get the pop up form to display the correct associates info, but when I try to enter a new record it says that I can't add or change the record b/c there is not a related field in associates table. I think this is a simple problem, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Yes, that is how they are set up. I think I just need to figure out a way for the "ee no" on the pop up form to be automatically updated with the "id" from the main form.

Before you open up that pop up form, save the record on the main form.

The reason you're getting the error is because your main form has not saved that new record yet.
