find mdb parent of mde

given a file xyz.mde on P:\runtime\

and several copies of xyz.mdb on Q:\source\A!, Q:\source\A2,,, Q:
\source\An

Is there a way to determine which xyz.mdb made the xyz.mde?

Negative.
Unless you build some type of code "Revision" into each MDB to be display on
a for or report in the MDE. All my MDBs contain a local revision table
listing a revision number and description of the revision, this number is
displayed in the startup form.

Of course this will not help with older MDE that do not contain a revision
table.
