MSysCompactError Table

19
Hello,
I had a database access. It's working fine on my destop, but my laptop wasn't. I didn't know why I couldn't read any table in database. When I opened databese, it generated a table MSysCompactError by itself automatictly.
I need some help to solve this problem.
Thanks

For anyone to help we'll need a little more data.
What version of Access?
What Operating System on your desktop?
What Operating System on your laptop?
How did you transfer the database to your laptop; by CD or Flash Drive?

I've never used USB drives myself, and maybe someone else will have some ideas, but I have read a number of times of people having this or similar problems when transferring an Access database using these type devices. Usually, but not always, they'll give a history of being in a hurry and maybe yanking the drive out of the PC they were copying from a split second too soon. My advice at this point would be to simply copy the good db from your desktop again and try transferring it to the laptop.

Good Luck!

the MSysCompactTable Error is one of the symptoms of database corruption. See this link: (corruption symptom #4)
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruption/symptoms.htm

In your case, since your desktop copy is fine, it appears that the corruption is occuring somewhere from when you copy the database to the USB drive and then paste it to your laptop.
1. One possibility is that you are copying the mdb file from your desktop before closing all open instances of Access, or while there is a .ldb (lock file) present that has not been released even though the mdb is closed.
2. Another possibility is that your database is running the MS Access Compact utility on close and for some reason, can not close all the tables. You should try running jet compact instead because jet compact does not open or close tables. See this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/273956

3. Every corruption problem is different. It is a good idea to keep on trying
what caused it so you can avoid future problems.
