Access XP (2002) SP3 crash

218 Recognized Expert New Member
Hi
Some of our (less advanced) clients who are still using Access XP are now reporting crashes when using our ADE app. This seems to happen on and off with checkboxes and will produce error messages of the "Access has encountered a problem and will now close" variety. This happens even with the latest service packs applied (SP3).

Our app is developed in Access 2003, with specific releases for both 2002 and 2003 platforms. Clients using Access 2003 have no problems with checkboxes.

No luck with Microsoft, except for suggesting an upgrade to 2003.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this problem? I am considering shipping the 2003 runtime to our more conservative clients.

Any suggestions welcome!

TIA

What do the checkboxes do? Macros? Code? Expressions? Purely data?

Hi Steve

Have you tried opening and compiling the applications in 2002. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with ADP's.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...
Yup, have done the Access 2002 stuff - in any case an ADP compiled in 2003 will not run in 2002 (hence the 2003 runtime idea).
It just seems to me that I'm going round in circles now - without any recourse to help from Microsoft.

Hi Rabbit
Purely data (true/false)

Steve
If that's all there is then I'm just as confused as you are.
