Suppression of auto-fill-out of MS-ACCESS

The table I created is very easy: it consists of one field "Nomen" (datatype
'text' size 50) and 10 fields m1 to m10 datatype 'text' size 3. Now, having
an array of some records with different "Nomen" and after that to fill m1 of
the first record with 1 and m1 of the second with 2 by using the "down"-key
for going forward, MS-ACCESS will fill m1 of the following records
automatically with 3; 4; 5;.... when only using the "down"-key. The same
happens with m1; m2;m3.... of one record by using the "right"-key, although
m1 to m10 have no relations.

Now my question is how to stop (switch off) these automatical fill-out.

Note: The trial with setting the DefaultValue=Null and the AllowedLength
onYes doesn't lead to a result.

It's an annoying "feature", but fortunately it's easy to get around: don't
update the table directly, but create a form instead.

At the risk of sounding too negative, though, having ten fields m1 to m10
doesn't sound as though your table has been properly normalized. You might
want to check out some of the references Jeff Conrad has at

Thanks for prompt help,
but that way works only if the formular shows single records but not in the
datasheet-mode, I would like to have it cause the "Nomen" are names of
pupils of a selected class and m1 to m10 are notes they got. So for better
overview I need the datasheed mode.
Do you have a solution idea in that case too?

I would appreciate your answer
Thanks
Karl
