Define "first" and "last".
If you want the lowest value in Field1 of Table1:
=DMin("Field1", "Table1")
and the highest value:
=DMax("Field1", "Table1")
If first and last mean the values once you sort by another field, you could
create a query, depress the Total button on the tooblar, and group and sort
by some field, getting the first and last entry form another field. But if
you have no way to sort your query, then first and last have no consistent
meaning.
