Send text file to logged in users network folder

I want to send a file to each persons home network space. I believe that
when a person logs onto a network, some sort of variable is set that
identifies the user. Is there any code that would allow me to transfer a
text file from Access 2000 for a mailmerge to the person logged in's special
network folder? I don't fully understand this, but I thought someone might
know something about it?

Sure. All you need to know is how your network defines the "special
network" folder.

When a user signs on to your Access application, you can find the
network name of that user using the function defined at:

http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0008.htm

Once you have that, you should be able to cobble together the path of
the "special network" folder into a text string.

That and the OPEN "PATH\FILENAME" for Output as #x command along with
the PRINT #x, xxxx command should fix you right up.

I can get the user's name no trouble, but I have no idea what their network
folder is and how to make a path to it. The network is generally Microsoft
Server2003. Can anyone tell me what your folder would be if you logged onto
such a network?

There may be a suggested default, but it varies by network. You'll
have to ask the sysadmin.

You can use Windows API calls to get the special folders,
or you can create a WshShell object and use its SpecialFolders
property:
