Glyn,

I tried it out and unless I misunderstand your question, my previous
reply should do exactly what you asked for.

Table1 has fields Field1, Field2. Form1 has textboxes Text1, Text2.
Query1 has the following criteria for Field1: [forms]![form1]![Text1]
Or IsNull([forms]![form1]![Text1]), and on a second line criteria for
Field2: [forms]![form1]![Text2] Or IsNull([forms]![form1]![Text2]).
