Updateable Query

I have a need to update a table with the min date from another table.
I have a query that has the min date for each group in one table. I
want to pass this value into another table. I get an error saying that
Operation must use an updateable query. I understand it won't update
because my query has grouping.
How do I get around this?

Example
Table 1
ID Date
3 1/5/05
3 2/20/05
4 2/10/05
6 6/5/05
4 1/12/05

Table 2
ID Date(get min value)
3
4
6

I need to write a query that gets the min date from table one and puts
it in the right place on table 2.
Results should be:
ID Date
3 1/5/05
4 1/12/05
6 6/5/05

Turn your grouping query into a make table query. Then use the made
table to update the other table.
