Do calculations in report footer based on data in body of report?

I have a report that displays the final grade for each students in a course
in the body of the report, in a text box called "txtAvg".

Now I want the report to display number of As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs. and the
average grade and median grade, and perhaps a bar chart. The report is
called "rptStudentAverages." I tried the following as the control source in
a text box to display the number of Bs, for example, but, of course, it
doesn't work:

=Nz((DCount("txtAvg","rptStudentAverages",">=82 AND <92"),0)

Instead of a number I just get "#Error" This text box, and the others like
it, are in the group footer. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dcount will automatically return 0 when there are no Bs so you don't nee the
NZ function. Also your syntax is wrong; Try:
DCount("[txtAvg]","rptStudentAverages","[TxtAvg] >=82 AND [TxtAvg] <92")
