Finding records by date range?

Sorry to waste everyone's time with a query which is so simple, but as a new
user of Access I have created a client database and one of the fields is
"next contact due" as the name implies, this is a date sometime in the
future when I should contact the client again.

The problem I now have is that I am so ignorant of the actual program that I
do not know how to construct a simple query or report (you see I don't even
know what I want is called) to pull up the records of clients who should be
contacted in a certain week. For example, how would I get a list of all
clients who I should contact during the week 14/12/2003 - 20/12/2003. This
is to say their "next contact due" date would be within that range.

I have tried a number of other recources to try to get this answer including
a book "microsoft office 97, no experience required" and a cd rom "teaching
you microsoft access XP/2000" but neither of these have the answer and a
bloke accross the road who works with computers for a living said I should
just forget Access and put the info into Excel as it is easier to use (only
I wouldn't know how to do it in Excel either".

If anyone has the answer could you please explain it in simple terms (that a
turnip could understand) preferably a step by step approach rather than a
"you just need to" followed by a load of technical jargon answer.

Thanks in advance anyone who can spare the time to solve this problem, or
even give me some pointers

Gary,

Create a new query and in it include your. Drag the "next contact due"
field onto the grid and in the 'criteria' line type "Between 14/12/2003 And
20/12/2003" (leave out the quotes).

That should do what you want.

If you don't understand any of the above, look in the help for "Queries".
You can base reports on stored queries.

D'oh! This should have read "Create a new query and include your table in
it".
