Maybe it is secured & you do not have sufficient permissions to view the
objects in design mode?
Or, check out the Tools : Options settings. There's probably something in
there somewhere.

Thanks, but it is definitely an MDB file. (Happens on all MDB files
incidentally, not just on one.)

error is encountered. The option is there, but it is greyed out. The only
