Swen -- can I make a new eccount with a non existing emailadress ?

Hello all,
Since I strarted to log in in this newsgroup my mailbox gets overflooded
with the well known phony Microsoft security update (Swen-virus)
My question is: can I log in with a new account with a false emailadress, so
the virus-mails won't get to my emailaccount anymore ?
Any advice very much appreciated.

for a neat swen zapper that works on pop3 mail accounts go here ----

it is free. it zaps swen every so often (you set how many minutes for
it to check you mail and zap swen). they are deleted from the server
before they are downloaded to your in box.

That's good if you disable the old account and get a new e-mail account.
Unfortunately, the virus/worm picks addresses up out of _saved_ newsgroup
files on infected machines, so the clear address you already posted is still
going to get a flood of virus/worm email.

I reluctantly disabled the e-mail account that I had used unmunged in
newsgroups for years... it was a spam magnet but only in manageable amounts.
The virus/worm torrent, however, was not manageable.

And, when I did that, I now post with a completely invalid address, just in
case the harvesters and virus/writers get smarter at unmunging.

Larry,
I've only used this invalid address for about 10 days now.
My virus mail has dropped from 300-400 a day down to 10 or so.
And my regular spam (that slipped through my Brightmail filter) has also
drastically decreased.

All without changing my actual address.

Thanks guys ... the patch works for my home e-mail adress '(POP3) and at
work I just dissabled the email adress and defined a new one ... everything
under control :)
