Oracle database

I have moved from sql server to Oracle. I tried to login to the Oracle database but its asking for username, password and hoststring. I entered username and password but I don't know host string.
Please let me know is it required to enter host string and is there any default host string which can be entered. Also, I am connecting remotely to the database.

Thanks

You can use the default password as scott/tiger without any host string.
Please try connecting to the database first from the local machine withou any host name (this is just for a test)

then you need to have the TNS ENTRY in your local machine to connect to the remote database
