Dynamic URL

Documentation states the setting the URL Behavior property to "Dynamic"
forces the web reference to use search the app.config file (actually deployed
version of the file) to get the URL.

the URL set in designer is:

http://localhost/DMSDataWS/wsCommon.asmx

The entry is the app.config file is:

<add key="DMS.Oscar.wsCommon" value="http://Oscar/DMSDataWS/wsCommon.asmx"/>

I am not sure the key is formed correctly and I do not know how to test
this without deploying the application at another location.

The actual project where this reference exists is named OrgEvent. This
project is a member of a solution named DMS. The name of the assembly is
DMS.exe (windows application).

When I check the URL it always returns:

If I substitute a bogus server name for localhost, the application will
still run and uses localhost in web reference's URL.

Do I have the key name correctly and how can I test to see if this working
as advertised? I need the server name to change depending on the location
the application is installed. I can do this through code at runtime, but I
would rather centralize this task to one location.

When you compile a .exe that has an app.config, it creates a file called
youexename.exe.config. You need to deploy this file along side the .exe.
Otherwise, the original URL will be used from when the web reference was
made.

Marina,

Sorry, I must not have been clear. I understand what you stated. My
questions related to:

1: Is the key value being correctly named so the webservice can find the
value to use?
2: How can I test this without deploying the application?
