Multi-User Lockout

We have a FE/BE app in Access 2003 in a blue chip corp environment.

Has been running fine for few years with BE on server and single FE copy on server, typically 3-7 conconcurrent users.

To cope with a planned, prolonged outage, I copied both BE and BE to a different server (Windows 2003) and found that the first user to login to the FE locked subsequent users out.

We got around this by copying FE to each client PC.

Can anyone explain why changing server could affect being able to share or not share a FE ?

Regards,

Gordon

Probably a permissions issue. Everyone needs to be able to read/write/delete on the server.
