Error message running query : Can not open database

Hello everyone,

I'm running a Make-Table Query in Access. They was working fine up intill an hour ago and suddenly now that I'm running the query , I keep getting this error message:

Can not open Database 'Query 1'. This may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file maybe corrupted.

And if I close access and reopen it , sometimes it works fine then but sometime it gives error again.

Please advise

I would take a cue from the error message and first consider corruption as a possibility.

A simple remedy for this is to open a new (blank) Access database, import all of your objects (forms, reports, queries, etc.) into this new database, and see if the problem still persists. If it does, then at least you can eliminate corruption as a possibility.

How can I export all the forms, tables, queries and reports all together?

I exported that problematic query to blank database as you said, and it worked perfectly fine. Thanks
But I still don't know how to export ALL of my objects in one shot.

Please advise,

In the new file, you'll do External Data > Import... if you are using Access 2007. Earlier versions of Access have a menu option somewhere for bringing external data or objects into the current file.

Anyway, a dialog will come up allowing you to navigate to the old file and select it. When you do, you'll just select everything in the list that comes up and import it all. If it is a corruption issue, which does happen from time to time with Access, this should fix it.

You're awesome, I did imported all the objects, and it's working perfectly fine now.

Just as a caveat, although most of a database is held within its importable objects, there are values (of greater or lesser importance depending on your views) which are not associated with these items which will not be replicated with this procedure. It is often not very important in my experience, but can be sometimes.

As another alternative (generally worth trying first and only proceeding on to the multi-object import if you don't find that it solves your problems), you can choose to do a Compact and Repair from your Tools / Database Utilities menu.

It is always worth keeping copious backups when working in Access to give you options to revert to a known working status for any object that may be corrupted beyond repairing or importing.

Good luck.
