Firefox ssl_error_rx_record_too_long for Bytes.Com

Folks,

My problem is very frustrating, because it prevents me from accessing Bytes.com from my Linux system.

More accurately, I had access to bytes, and it suddenly stopped.

The sequence is approximately thus:
  1. 2016-08-23 - access http://bytes.com - this is redirected to https://bytes.com
  2. 2016-08-23 - click link, access https://Bytes.com/login
  3. 2016-08-23 - various page pulls and queries.
  4. 2016-08-23 - close all Firefox tabs (and windows?) referencing bytes.com; five windows with multiple tabs are left open.
  5. 2016-08-23 - lock screen and leave for day.
    • NOTE: Firefox is not closed.
  6. 2016-08-24 - walk into office, unlock Linux system.
    • NOTE: Firefox is open from previous day.
  7. 2016-08-24 - open new Firefox window, other windows are left open.
  8. 2016-08-24 - access http://bytes.com - this is (apparently) redirected to https://bytes.com - SSL connection fails with the Firefox "Problem loading page" page.
    • Secure Connection Failed
    • An error occurred during a connection to bytes.com.
    • SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
    • (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
  9. 2016-08-25 to 2016-08-30 - Problem persists; cannot open bytes, same error.
  10. 2016-08-31 - browser games, all fail again.
    • Restart browser.
    • Remove bytes.com cookies.
    • Clear browser cache.
    • Disable TLS 1.0.
    • Review certificate lists - nothing obvious, and no changes.
Final Notes:
  1. Obviously my system can communicate correctly with Bytes, as I've done it.
  2. Other sites have had similar communication problems, some on the first access.
  3. CentOS 6.3
  4. Kernel Linux 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64
  5. Browser: Firefox ESR
  6. Firefox version: 17.0.3

What should I do to recover access?

If this question is inappropriate to this group, tell me, and I'll post in the correct place, leaving a link behind.

Thanks,
Oralloy
