How to retrieve from oracle data through unix shell script

Hi everybody

I am shell script binger. So I don’t know how to connect and retrieve the data from oracle.
Oraunix/log@oracle9i
My user name is like this
The table name was :Empmaster

The table having seven fields followed by

Empname department job add add1 add2 city

Kannan cse ma ban aaa aaa1 bang
Raja eee pm chen sss sss1 channai


Now I want to retrieve on second row (Raja). So what can I do?
