Save Word Doc as byte array in C#

Hi,

We have a web application which reads in a Word template (.dot), replaces
some fields then saves the document to the file system. This all works fine.
What we would like to do next is to save the doc directly to an SQL Server
2000 database. Are there any methods which would allow us to output the
document as a byte array or something similar, rather than saving to the
file system? We'd rather not save the word doc off to the filesystem then
read it back in in order to save it to the database (seems rather
inefficient).

An help would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Steve
