Hi,
I am setting up a website for a small busines. The web host that they
are using does not have smtp running on their particular server,
instead they referred us to a different server to us for smtp. I just
want to create a few simple mailto links. Is there a way to specify a
smtp server, without having to write a full blown asp...

How do you use a LABEL tag within a two dimensional table? In the
examples I've seen for this element, only extremely simple situations
are shown, e.g., <LABEL FOR="wgt">Weight:</LABEL><INPUT TYPE="TEXT"
ID="wgt">
But what if you have ...
<TABLE>
<TR>
<TH>WEIGHT</TH>
<TH>HEIGHT</TH>

I am reviewing a set of pages, some of which include in-line mathematical
formulas represented as images. I am addressing the accessibility issues
behind those images. (Conformance to Section 508 of the applicable US
government regulations is required.) Ick--at least, I suppose, until MathML
is generally supported.
One approach would be to...

I have quite often (as have probably many of you) come across HTML forms
with irritating bits of Javascript attached. The last straw on this
particular camel's back was a large form I was asked to complete in
connection with attendance at a seminar. After spending more than 15
minutes on it, I clicked on the submit button - and nothing...

I have an HTML form with a pre-built table containing "standard"
column headings (for example, First Name, Last Name, SSN, Hours,
etc.). I want a user to be able to enter values into the form and then
submit it. The data will be emailed to an administrator who will then
print the month's report. I also plan to extract the data and store it
in...

About once a week, I post an FAQ pointer in this newsgroup

1. To keep regulars from having to post the standard answers to standard
questions again and again; if you have a standard question, you might
save yourself some time by first reading the available material for

Hi,
this is not strictly about HTML per se, but rather about its practical
usage. I would like to write some articles (similar in structure to
LaTeX article) with XHTML (Amaya?), but I am not sure how to operate
with bibliographies. Certainly that I have all my references in BibTeX
database. Is there any reasonable way how to emulate result...

I have some CGI programs that spit out error pages when the user enters
illegal form input. These custom error pages, while informing the user of
errors, are otherwise just standard web pages.
Is there a disadvantage to not spitting out a 404 error? I assume 404 isn't
just another webpage, but carries with it the information that an error...

Can you put commands in an HTML page so that when it opens it will be in the
center of the screen, and possibly even turn off some of the menu bars?
Want to create an file on a CD I am publishing and would like to
have it start up in the center of the screen with the index.htm file on the
CD.

I wanted to show an MPEG-4 video file on a web page. I'm talking about
a real iso-compliant file (with the .mp4 extension.)
I've been searching on how to use mime-types but it turns out that you
need to place a realvideo or quicktime file that links to the mpeg-4
file. But that's not what I want.
MPEG-4 is supposed to be the standard format...

Hi-
I am having problem rendering a certain page (asp) in a frameset in IE
6.0.2800.1106 - consistently on several different computers. The page
renders outside a frameset in IE and displays inside and outside a
frameset in Mozilla and earlier versions of IE. Has anyone seen this
problem and know who to solve it?
Thanks-
