Hi All, I have a nice easy table and/or CSS formatting problem for any gurus out there. I have a table with 4 columns - no "width" attribute on anything. Some rows have 4 cells in (call these type A) and some have colspan=4 (type B)

I figured since a lot of us around here design sites for "customers" a lot, I'd ask a general question that might help a lot of us in the future. When dealing with clients asking for _professional_ web sites, I am constantly trying to explain why less is more; that professional-grade web sites should focus on functionality, usability, and...

About once a week, I post an FAQ pointer in this newsgroup under the same heading as this post. That pointer has two purposes: 1. To keep regulars from having to post the standard answers to standard questions again and again; if you have a standard question, you might save yourself some time by first reading the available material for this...

Does anyone have any idea how these are done, obviously with...

When you have a large table, you have to scroll the vertical and/or horizontal scroll bar(s) to read the table contents <td> tag. But the problem is you can't see the column header <th> tag when you scroll down the vertical scroll bar. So how do I make <th> tag always stay on the window/frame. This is similar to spreadsheet Excel, the...

I'm developing a site for a charity which I am aiming to make standards-compliant, accessible and cross-browser compatible. I'm doing OK so far and have the workings of a respectable site, but I still have a few little niggly problems: Site: http://www.aif-advocacy.org.uk/index.asp CSS: http://www.aif-advocacy.org.uk/aif.css

I have an elastic layout site. In it I am trying to use a three tiered image as a three state button. The container for this button is limited to the height of one state/tier of the button and has overflow: hidden; applied. This works fine to mask the unseen states/tiers --as long as the height for the container is set in pixels. !!! My problem...

Apologies for the fluff post, but I thought you all would get some amusement out of this... A banner ad from Microsoft just came up as I was browsing a popular news site. (I can't do a screenshot on this machine, so I'll just have to describe it.) In the first frame, they show a gnarled thicket of illegible code next to the message, "We've...

Is there a way for me to select special formatting based on browser. I've got a css drop shadow for my site. I'm using a set of div's to create the shadows. It works fine in IE, but the shadow isn't appearing in Mozzilla. I found a page with a similar setup that seems to work in Mozilla, but reports problems in IE. So what I'd like to do is...
