Event objects Threading on Serial Port on Win32

David:
Tube el mismo problema que vos con el hilo del ejemplo de pyserial. Me
paso que en Linux andaba bien, obvio, pero tenia un pequeño
problemilla en Windows, también obvio.

Lo solucione de la siguiente manera:
Asi es el codigo original de la función ComPortThread

def ComPortThread(s elf):
"""Thread that handles the incomming traffic. Does the basic input
transformation (newlines) and generates an SerialRxEvent"" "

while self.alive.isSe t(): #loop while alive event is true
if self.ser.inWait ing() != 0:
text = self.ser.read()
event = SerialRxEvent(s elf.GetId(), text)
self.GetEventHa ndler().AddPend ingEvent(event)
solo tiene que agregarle el siguiente bucle antes que nada:
while not self.alive.isSe t():
pass

quedándote así dicha función...

def ComPortThread(s elf):
"""Thread that handles the incomming traffic. Does the basic input
transformation (newlines) and generates an SerialRxEvent"" "
while not self.alive.isSe t():
pass

while self.alive.isSe t(): #loop while alive event is true
if self.ser.inWait ing() != 0:
text = self.ser.read()
event = SerialRxEvent(s elf.GetId(), text)
self.GetEventHa ndler().AddPend ingEvent(event)

y listo... Con eso debería andar
Espero haber sido útil

Hi, I'm writing a program which requires the use of three serial ports and one parallel port. My application has a scanning devices on each port, which I can access fine with pyserial. However, I'm unsure of how exactly I should be designing the program, I thought I could use threading to start class: class scanner(Thread): def...

Hello all, I am not sure if this question is about threading or serial i/o - it has elements of both. I'm on WinXP (desktop) and WinNT (labtop), when I run miniterm.py there is no problem both writing, reading, opening the com port, no errors, etc. But if I run wxTerminal.py when read from it nothing happens. It ran without error and it...

I'm experiencing a threading problem that's really perplexing me. I have a multithreaded application that reads car ECU information that's sent over the serial port by the ECU and received by the laptop/program. I'll try to give a concise synopsis as the program is easily 10k+ lines. main.cs - contains the application start function. ...

My unstanding of all VB up to and including vb6 is that an event could not "interrupt" itself. For instance if you had a timer event containing a msgbox then you would only get one message. However in vb.net you get continual messages (even setting the system modal property). Firstly, are these two assumptions right and if so what is...

I'd like to read ASCII data from a serial port, but (once again) I'm having trouble getting started. (Can't seem to find the basic level of docs to get going <sigh>) I'd like to use only standard "built-in" modules if possible. Could somebody offer a simple code-snippet to get me started reading from a serial port? Thanks!

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
