installing and uninstalling packages...

I have two quick questions about managing packages:

1) I'm writing a simple module with which I would like to include a
couple of macros for the MoinMoin wiki system. The files I want to
install are, say:

ExtraFunctions. py

I'd like to install MainModule and ExtraFunctions as usual in the
local site-packages directory (on my debian system:
/usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages/). As for the Moin macros,
I'd like ot check somehow if MoinMoin is installed on the system, and
if it's installed, put the MoinMacro(1|2). py files in the moin macro
directory (again, on my system:
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/MoinMoin/macro/). Is there a way to
do this in setup.py?
2) a more general question: is there an accepted way to uninstall
packages once they've been installed? I didn't notice documentation
on this feature in the manual.

thanks much!

I did this once and can't remember how <blush> so I read the reportlab user guid. It says to unzip the reportlab archive - this is on w2k, BTW, with Python23 - to a directory and make a file called reportlab.pth in the pythod dir. The only line in this file is supposed to be the path to the reportlib dir. Then I'm instructed to open the ... ok I'll close and reopen ... the python cmd line interpreter and type import reportlab

I just now installed 2.4. I naively copied my site-package from 2.3. The first program I tried to run, which uses the gnuplot package, got this error, complaining about module Numeric: ImportError: Module use of python23.dll conflicts with this version of Python. Grumble: Why does Numeric reference a module by release number? My real question is, what all do I have to do in order to get the programs I

Guys/Gals I've messed up my Python 2.4 install. I'm really new to Python (and Linux for that matter) and really wanted to try Python out. I have mandrake 10.1. The first thing I did was uninstalled via rpm Python 2.3 and Tkinter 8.3 (I now realize that was a mistake, since I could have both version installed with no problems). I then downloaded Python2.4 ran ./configure make and make install... voila I had Python installed...

All, I was working at a client's site when I installed Visual Basic 6 on a machine at their request. Existing applications on this machine had specified version 4.0 of the Jet OLEDB provider in a data source string in their config files. After installing VB 6, they stopped working, producing the error "3220: The supplied provider is different from the one already in use. Changing their configuration files to specify version 3.5.1...

I am using xpsp2, and I have two versions of python (2.2 and 2.2.3 - both are listed as 29.3 mb, and listed as rarely used, which means never to me) listed in add/remove programs in the control panel. I assume they were put in by HP out of the factory install, when I got my pc last April, since I certainly did not install the first one or do an update to it. I googled "python" and have no interest in it and know nothing about it. ...

We just installed DB2 ESE V8 FP12 on our Windows 2003 servers. We also installed the DB2 ADMCL V8 FP12 on our websphere servers. We use the JDBC Type 4 drivers on our websphere servers to directly hit our DB2 Z/OS V7 databases. When we originally set up this environment (DB2 V8 FP8) we had to bind the JDBC type 4 drivers using the syntax: java com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Binder -url jdbc:db2://(ip address):(port number)/(system name) -user...

I've just started a job which has a massive python2.3.4-centric tools installation and configuration. I know what you're going to say, but I can't upgrade and be the only one with a newer version. There are close to 30 engineers using this same tools configuration, and it has been working fine for a long time. For now, we all have to live with the limitations and or bugs in 2.3.4. I'm running Windows XP, SP2, on a AMD 1.79Ghz MP 2200+.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
