8i isn't certified for XP. Only XP professional supports 9i

Hello Everyone, I am trying to install Oracle 9 on my Windows XP Pro laptop so I can play around. I downloaded the 3 ZIP files specified on the Oracle site (92010NT_Disk1.zip) and unzipped them into their respective Disk1, Disk2, Disk3 folders. I then run the setup.exe in Disk1, the drive churns for 10-15 seconds, then nothing happens. No error messages, nothing. I've tried running the autorun, I get the Splash logo with the menu, I...

We have a few developers that use Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4.0) on their personal workstations for testing purposes. Recently, weve made the decision to upgrade them to WinXP so that they are able to use some other functionalities of the OS, but we are running into a totally odd problem with Oracle. It seems that, Installing Oracle runs just fine, and our ant scripts to build the database work well...but when we reboot the computer, the database...

Am having a problem getting into Enterprise Manager for Oracle 10g - am using same on WINXP Pro, as a learning tool - I am NOT a DBA. I entered my Login name, eg. WFONEILL\Administrator and my password for my computer in the HOST(OS) section, and then entered sys as username and the password that I entered when I installed Oracle. Keep getting told that my password is incorrect. Don't know if the error message is referring to the...

We are using ODP.net (version 9.2.0.4.01) as data provider for Oracle in our dotnet app. Currently we are using Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 (VS.net IDE 2003) in our project. One thing I feel strange is that every time the ASPX application ended (closed and disposed the connection object), the Oracle session connection never killed. These eventually bring us to oracle connections used up situation :(

I am using Access 2003 (on WinXP) to read from an Oracle db, where there is a table with a CLOB which is a variable-size text field. In the 'linked table' which is created in the Tables panel of Access, the CLOB becomes a Memo field. I need to create a report that displays the data from this CLOB in the correct format. The data in the CLOB contains any number of chr(13), i.e. Carriage Returns, without LF, to separate lines of data that are...

I installed Oracle 9i (Developer Suite and D'base) ver 9.02 on my windows 2K O/S. The installation went fine without a hitch. However when I upgarded my OS to WinXP I now get an "Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable" error every time I boot up with the ability to send the message to M'soft. The error seems to effect the the agntsrvc.exe file which is linked to the operation of the OracleDevtoolsAgent (brought up in the control panel/admin.....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
