XML Forms Based Standalone Application

Hello,

Someone posted this topic and I was not allowed to post a reply. So pardon me for asking this here again. Someone has to say something on this? I'm kinda looking for the same thing.

Thanks.

XML Forms Based Standalone Application
Hello,

I am looking into building a standalone desktop application which can
edit and store XML data files of a certain XML schema or DTD. XML
Forms looks like a reasonable choice. I want to re-use an existing
tool with XML Forms support and pack it with my schema. The user will
install this with my application and use to edit the XML files
according to the schema I deliver.

Are there such tools which can be distributed to users without any
major restrictions ?

P.S. Regular XML editors are far too generic. I am looking into
delivering something which can only edit a single XML schema to keep
things easy for the user.

Thanks in advance,

MDE

This would require building a custom app. It'd be a lot of work.

It sounds a lot like Altova's Authentic, although I'm sure this particular application does not contain the schemas you want to use.

The level of complexity would depend on the level of complexity of your xml schema. If it is simple enough it might be possible to do this with forms, perhaps .NET forms even. Generic xml editors are still the closest solution, as some of them will limit parts of your input (generally the elements) based on the schema.
