Purpose of converting the Databases..?

Hi.. can u say what is the need in converting the databases to xml files..?can u say the list of uses in convertin the databases?

  • Databases take up more memory than xml.
  • XML is easier to transfer
  • XML can be faster to process.
  • ...

Is this as opposed to writing SQL queries??
