How to use arrays or a Collection in xsl to fetch list of values from a xml ?

to fetch a list of rows and columns from xml and to store it in array and how to count the dynamic rows and columns ........

Help with code and explanations ....

I would use node-set. It can also be applied on a variable that contains the a set of nodes selected from the XML source.
