Rich text element...

3
Hello,

I am trying to create an XML element that will allow me to add some text styling to it.

I don't need full XHTML capabilities, just a few things would be more than enough.

What I am looking is for an element that would be able to hold the following text:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. This is a set of text with <b>bold strings on it</b>
  2. Some <i>italics</i>, maybe even a <a href="xxx">link</a>
  3. And page breaks
  4. <br /><br />Tha'ts it.
How do I create such an element? I don't know if I should use some kind of complexType element with a lot of nesting, or use an xs:any element with a namespace....

Thanks

Welcome to TheScripts TSDN...

I'm not sure about font styles, but for links look at this XLink Example.

You have here a good article about how to add style to XML.

Welcome to TheScripts TSDN...

I'm not sure about font styles, but for links look at this XLink Example.
But this will only allow me one xlink reference per chunk element. And the element would be applied to the whole thing.

I want to create an element, that would be able to hold some text with tags on them.

I used <B> <BR> <I> , but they could be name whatever, they don't have to map actual XHTML tags. I will parse them myself on an xslt.

They could be <break></break>. That's not a problem.

Thanks

I solved it.

It was easier than I though.

The article you pointed to early wouldn't work either. The XML documents I will create are not going to be displayed on HTML exclusively, so I need to be able to parse the style information myself, so I can translate to the different outputs I want to create, HTML, PDF, DOC ....

What I did was create complexTypes with mixed contents and allow 0:unbounded repetitions of the style elements.

Thanks

Glad to hear that you solved it.
And thanks for posting the solution, it may help others with same problem.

God bless you,
Dorin.
