XML insertion of text in nodes

Hello everyone,
I wish to ask about how to insert in xml file using org.dom.package.
I have one empty xml file and i wish to insert in to xml file .
Eg:
<Gulam>
<Put id='one'>

</Put>
</Gulam>
now what i wish is to insert in put node the value based on attribute.means i should be able to insert value of any data type.
I tried it with XQueryUtil but its only supporting for numeric data types that too hardcoded.I am using Joelib2 library functions of chemistry domain to insert value in xml file.I am also using serializer for outputting.
I am clear that i dont want to insert node but text in node.
Can wee do it using DOM.how?
Plz let me know if anyone is aware of this.I
