returning form values in msxsl:script

Hi,

I am trying to return a form value from within a msxsl script. Please help me if i am doing it wrong.
the code is as follows.
<msxsl:script language="javascript" implements-prefix="user">
<![CDATA[
function tdf()
{

return document.formname.inputname.value;
}
]]>


</msxsl:script>

when i run it using xsl transform an error throws up saying " variable document has not been declared"
