Got AOC wide-screen monitor.Cannot get full-screen image. H-P computer, Win 7.Fix?

My PC is H-P. OS Windows 7 Home Prem. Got new AOL wide-screen monitor, but cannot get full-screen image. How can I correct?

Generally, I see two things that might not be working as intended:
  • The screen resolution settings in Windows are wrong.
  • The settings of the monitor are wrong
As it is a new monitor, chances are that Windows is at fault here. So try the following these instructions and try out a few resolutions offered. You'll have to choose one and then click the "Apply" button to see the result. Choose one that most closely resembles the aspect ratio of your monitor. And the closer it is to your actual screen size, the better.
If that doesn't do the trick, try changing the settings of the screen itself. How to do that differs a little with each device, but in most cases you'll have a menu button of some sort at the bottom of your monitor. In that menu you'll be able to change the size of the picture displayed. More accurate instructions should be in the monitor booklet that hopefully came with the monitor.
