Copy a file and name it to match a dynamically created file name

1
The situation I have is this: I am creating files with names that are a set name with a variable attached the the front of them. In some cases I need to take one of the files and replace it with a standard file, but the name must match the dynamically created file.
IE: process creates xxxxfilename.zzz and xxxxfilename.aaa
delete xxxxfilename.aaa
Copy standard.aaa from another location and rename to xxxxfilename.aaa

I'm sure how we're supposed to help when you didn't post any of your code. You didn't tell us what language your program is written in.
