Upload problem

I recently built a second computer (desktop) for the house. Everything works well but the upload speed is drastically different than my laptop. My laptop averages speed tests of 25 Mbps download and 4-5 Mbps upload through a wifi connection. This computer is 7 years old and is a mac.

The desktop is less than 24 hours old and is a PC. It is hardwired to the motherboard and averages 25 Mbps download and .3 Mbps upload.

I haven't built a computer in a very long time and was surprised to find I did not need a 10/100 nic card to connect to the internet. Have these cards been completely integrated into the Mobo or is this the likely cause of my problem? If this is my problem why would ONLY upload speed be affected and not download speed?

I have shut off virus protection, removed firewall and cycled the router. It is apparent that the problem is with the computer and not with extrenal hardware or ISP.

speedtest.org gives my PC a hardwired speed rating of:
Ping 9ms
Download: 25.4 Mbps
Upload: .33 Mbps

The mac has a hardwired speed rating of:

ping 42ms
download: 25.04 Mbps
upload: 4.12 Mbps

What NIC was used? What Linux distribution are you running?

Are the drivers updated?
