If you recently reformatted, it's very possible you don't have the drivers for your soundcard installed. Try this:

Right click on My Computer, select Properties. Click the Hardware tab on top, then click Device Manager. You should see a long list of items (Computer, Disk Drives, Display Adapters, etc). Click the plus to the left of the "Sound, video and game controllers". Do you see anything listed such as AC97, Creative, Realtek? (These are several of the popular soundcard chipsets) If not, above "Sound, video and game controllers" you might see a yellow question mark (?) listed as "Other devices"; if so, click the plus to the left of it. What all is there?

Once you have this information and can share it, we can continue with finding the proper sound drivers and getting them installed for you. :)

PS - While you're jotting all this information down, you should also make note of what brand and model number is for your computer. (If it is a prebuilt system like Dell, Gateway, HP, etc)

Hey Dude,

Its very simple that your sound driver is not istalled in your system,
You must have a sound driver media Or Motherboard driver CD which came with your system ,if not so than you have to download it from the manufacture website which is free, After download install your sound driver.
I hope your problem will be solve after doing this .
