Running a racked windows 7 on different hardware

A dump we are preparing is actually going to be for our students, they will have a rackable hard drive that contains the dump and which should be able to work every where in the school no matter the hardware of the machine. So the scenario is like that: the very first time they will get rack and then it will be dumped with a dual boot sustem (Linux, Windows 7). After that the rack should be usable on every machine of the school that is installed with rack partition. Actually all our machines are HPs, from different series. Our dump works fine when switching to series not too old but if we use some older series we get a BSOD and random behavior likely to be caused by drivers.

I tried out sysprep utility but it does not fit to the job.

My question is then how to get a windows 7 installed on rack hard drive works on different hardware (Linux works fine doing this job ! )

Thanx in advance

This is because Windows loads certain drivers on install and will not run on a significantly different machine without re-installation.

You might want to try running the OSs in a virtual environment running on a Linux host OS, the VM will appear to have the same hardware no matter what machine you run it on.
