"E:/ There is not enough space on the disk" How do you fix this?

2
I was trying to install Microsoft Office Home and Student."E:/ There is not enough space on the disk" was the error code I got. Also, the C hard drive is full. I was wondering how to clean it up without deleting anything.

Right-click on the drive in My Computer, select properties and then click on Disk Cleanup. This will let you delete temp files, recycle bin contents and other unnecessary files, it will also give you the option to compress old files, this may save considerable space.

I already ran a disk cleanup and it did not clear any files or make any more space on my C drive.

If your drive is full, the best approach you can take is either archive certain folders in .zip format to compress them. This works better for files with lot of textual data vs binary data.

Also you could just add another storage device and move files that are not important on to that.

There is not much else you can do except delete unneeded files.

If you want to find out if there are any big files taking up all your space, get a disk usage viewer. I prefer OverDisk:

Some people like WinDirStat:

There are quite a few others too.

I don't know what hardware your PC has, but if it has a DVD burner I would suggest burning files to DVDs. What Operating system do you use? Windows 95, 98, 2000 (ME), XP, Vista, or Se7en?

If you use Vista or Se7en then windows has burning software built-in. All you would need to do is drag and drop files to the disk but beware: once you eject the disc, that's all you can burn to it. It's a one-time action of storing that data.

Once the data is stored on the disc and you've ejected it, you can delete it from your computer. Might I suggest backing up your pictures or documents in this fashion?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you need to buy DVDR discs to do this. They're fairly cheap these days and I've seen a 100 pack of Verbatim discs (supposedly the best brand) go for $30. It stores 4.7 GB on each disc x 100 discs = 470 GB, aka more space than you'd probably use, for $30.
