windows xp system date privilege error

visualbasic1111
Hi All, I am working on my home PC there is not LAN at home. However, when I try to change my system date I get an error message
" You do not have the proper privilege level to change the system time".
How can I solve this problem, while I am working on single PC.

Are you using a user account that has administrator privileges? goto control panel->user and groups and make sure that the user you are logged in as is an administrator. If it isn't, log in as Administrator using the password you used when you first set up the pc (*NOTE* the administrator can just be blank. this happends if you didn't pick a password when you installed xp). Then try and change the date.

So are you saying you don't have access to the administrator account and you want to bypass a restriction on the time? This would be a violation of forum rules as there are plenty of reasons for an admin to lock the time and prevent users from changing it.

How do you know someone blocked you from changing the time and how do you know they used registry keys to do so? If you have administrator privileges try these two things. goto Control Panel-> Admin Tools-> Local Security Settings -> Local policies and look for system time, or something similar. I'm on my work PC so i can't remember the exact name, but that should be close. Try enabling it for admin group and see what happends. Also you can try to disable it for all, reboot, enable it for all, reboot and see if you can change it then. Let me know if you need more details and I'll provide it when I get on my home PC.

Thank You sir, I am going to try these settings and will inform You later. And, I know that someone has blockem the system date from registery editor because my colleague has told himself that he has made the changes from registery editor but he is not telling me the procedure used that's why I m looking for the solution online.

Sir, I tried the setting as you mentioned still there is no effect on the privilege of the system date. Could you tell me about the procedure to change the level of privilege for system date. You can also tell me about any website where I can find the solution about this problem.
