virtual memory

I had a previous question which may be relevant, i dont konw for sure tho.

http://bytes.com/topic/windows/answers/873720-windows-bootloader-2-hard-drives

anyways, now I have an absolutely fresh install of windows. When it boots up everything is great. But before I can get to the part where I have to set the defaults like the time and what not, I get an error saying its out of virtual memory, and the computer restarts on its own. I don't understand because i have 768mb ram, and its a fresh install so shouldnt there be a default page file?

Is this windows XP, Vista, or 7 we're talking about here?
In the latter 2 cases, 768mb of RAM might not be enough.
