Accessing shared folders / server over the network

Hi All,

I have moved data from an old server (Win 2000) to a new server Win 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition. My local users can access the shared folder no hassle. My problem is my branch offices which is on a different subnet (192.168.52.xxx) I have given them all the necessary access to that folder, they are in the Power user group. When I access their pc via remote control they can see the server but the moment they click on the server to access it I get this message :

"\\ServerA is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions."

" The network path was not found"

Any idea. Much appreciated.

Did you specify the exact path of the shared folder?

If you did not it might be because the parent resource does not grant those users the necessary permissions.

Are you direct sharing out the resource or are the users on an Active Directory infrastructure?

Hi ShaneA,

The users are on Active Directory. I have the default share on the D$ with everyone all access and then I have the subfolder under D:\Sales\ which I have given this particular user has read/write/execute permission. Another user also at the same branch only need read access but neither can access the folder or the files in that directory.

I have tried to enter the path \\ServerA\Sales\

No luck. Still give me same error message.

Do you have WINS running and is your new server configured to use it?
