Using Vista as a network hub

32
Hello,

I have a Windows Vista 64-bit machine that has 2 gigabit Ethernet ports as well as a wireless card. I am currently connecting to the Internet via the wireless card. I also have an Ubuntu server machine with only an Ethernet port that I would like to connect to the Internet.

I'm looking for some hub/routing software (free in price, of course) that will allow my Ubuntu server to connect to the Internet going through the Vista machine which will act like a hub/router.

I don't care whether or not the Vista machine would set up its own private network and give out its own IP addresses or if it just forwards the networking and lets the real router continue to give IP addresses. Either way is fine with me as long as it works. Also, I will need to access a network file share being server off the Ubuntu machine from the Vista machine, so they will at least need to be able to talk to each other (I think this could be accomplished either way).

Obviously, just connecting the Ubuntu machine directly to the wireless router via Ethernet is out of the question, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this :)

EDIT: I should also mention that I don't just want to forward a certain set of ports. I want the Ubuntu machine to have access of the full spectrum of ports.

Thanks,
~poe
