BootMgr is missing ..?

Hi,
Can anybody help me since i am getting the file in "C" drive name4d BOOTSECT.BAK saying that

A disk read error occurred
BOOTMGR is missing
BOOTMGR is compressed
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Can anybody help me ..?

You'll probably have to repair the MBR. For WinXP, you can find the instructions here (look at the "FIXMBR" command), for Vista use these instructions (even though the description of the problem is slightly different).

Thanks for the update.. But I am a bit crazy in what is this BOOTMGR / MBR and why and when this types of problem comes.
