problemin folder sharing.....

Dear experts,
* I've connected my desktop pc and laptop in a network by using Switch.
* Broad band is directly connected with Switch.
* Both Laptop and Desktop pc 's IP address is configured as "OBTAIN AUTOMATICALY"
* I've shared all Partitions in both Laptop & Desktop.
* Now the problem is : i cannot access the shared partitions or folders of Desktop from Laptop, but i can access the Laptop's Shared folder or Partitions in Desktop pc.
In Laptop, if i type the shared folder path in Run command, it si asking User name and Passward. i entered the user name, ther is no passwd. its showing Error msg as "the path could not find"
and also the shared folders r not showing in Laptop's My network places.

*What could be the problem? and how can i fix it?

Hello,
Frist tell me what type of network you are using. Is it peer to
peer or server/client model. Also check whether both pc and
laptop are in the same workgroup. Usally it happens when we are using automatic ip address. try to access the same by giving the manual ip address. Hope this issue may get resolved.

all the best

hoping for your reply.
