System Administrator

Each time I try to change a setting on my pc or go to control panel add or remove programs it keeps telling me (THIS OPERATION HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT ON THIS COMPUTER. Please your contact system administrator). I am using Windows XP (home edition). Please help me thank you!

have you tried logging into your computer as an Admin? Meaning that for a user name you would type "Administrator" and try not using a password see if that lets you in.


If not it seems like you have an admin account set up some how. Check under user accounts and see if it has anything in there.


Does anyone else have a profile created on your machine?

Try that not logging in. Yes others have account on my computer but barely use and they have no password. When I ctrl+atl+del try to log on as admin my name come up.

Now burn it to a CD and boot from that CD. And then (if I remember correctly) you can convert any user account to one with administrator privileges.

Its not booting from the CD. Still can't see no control panel. It keeps telling me "registry editing restricted" and "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effects on this computer. Please contact your system administrator
