Controlling a small network

228 100+
Hello Guys,
I am havin problem managin a network of nearly 40 computers. Its not my job but the guy who used to do the job left and until the company hires a NT administrator i am helpin with the networkin and i am havin a hard time dealin wit it. I would be happy if you can recommend softwares or steps that would help me do this:

1. Restartin and Turnning of the Client computers at specified time from server: my friend used to do that manually at 9PM but i have another job at 9PM and cant make it. Is there any good NT workin software you would recommend to do this job?
2. I been in the job only for a week but the week has been a disaster with a spread of virus. We use sophos but it cant delete it at all (regsvr.exe virus). The company have an agreement with sophos so i cant change it, but do you know any antiworm, trojan hunter that i can run from server to clean the computers?
3. Installin from Server: is there a way i can install and uninstall apps to clients from the server at once?

I know that it is a lot to ask but i dont know a lot about networking and i am really startin to lose ctrl. The server is windows 2003 server by the way.

Thanks.

This really seems like a better question for the Windows Forum, as it deals with Server 2003, though my recommendation would be to use GPO for 1 and 3, and then something like avast and spybot or ad-aware for 2.

There are many apps to do the job. Can you tell us what kind of Server you are running? Win2k3 or Win2k3 SBS? Do you have admin rights?

Ok so most of the scheduling and scanning you can do from the main server but if you want a simple solution that automatically install on all the hosts and gives you full control of the network, I woul suggest using Dameware which can be downloaded HERE

Good Luck,

Cyberdyne.
