FTP in windows vista

hello everyone

i want to use the ftp which is available in windows vista. i don't want to install a software for that, i know an FTP program is in windows already.

can anyone tell me how to use it..??

If the software is already installed with your machine i would suggest reading the help file or see if there is a tutorial.


A name of the FTP program would be useful for someone to help you use it.

i know that the name would be helpful but i don't know it. i know it is available with windows but i don't know its name.
i needed some help in know it i am searching for it but i couldn't find it.
plz good advices will be helpful for me

The FTP-Client is integrated into Internet Explorer / Windows Explorer, as far as I can tell. Just enter ftp://your-server.com (or whatever your server is) into the address field and there you are.

what i want to do is to use ftp so i can access my router and get its configuration file so i can work on it.
what you told me works
but it is not working with my router (Linksys)
but it worked with another router

do u have any tips for linksys

I've never had to do something like that myself - at least not via ftp. Do you actually need the configuration file or will their web interface do the job? Just open the site http://192.168.1.1/ and enter your username (either blank or "admin") and the password (default: "admin").
If that doesn't work, you could tell us, what exact model it is - maybe then we can find more information.
